Bruno Mars

The man behind the wonderful voice

When I see your face,
There’s not a thing that
I would change
‘cause you’re amazing, just the way you are..
(Bruno mars, “just the way you are”)

The video clip of this has recently been shown a lot on some TV music programs. The lyrics are catchy and the music is easy to listen too. It’s sung softly by a Filipino-Puerto Rican-American guy named Peter Hernandez, or Bruno Mars, with a slightly falsetto voice. Let’s find out more about him!

“Every body in my family sings, everyone plays instruments. My uncle’s an incredible guitar player, my dad’s an incredible percussionist, my brother’s a great drummer and he plays in our band. I’ve just been surrounded by it,” said Bruno about music in his family. It’s true that his family has been influencing him with a mixture of reggae, rock, hip-hop and R & B.

Growing up in a musical family, this Libra guy who was born in Hawaii, October 8, 1986, used to like to impersonate pop singers like Michael Jackson and Elvis Presley when he was young. Then, in 1992, Bruno got an opportunity to play a role as little Elvis in a movie titled Honeymoon in Vegas. Lucky him!

Shortly after graduating from President Theodore Roosevelt high school, Bruno decided to move to Los Angeles to pursue his career in music. And what he has achieved now is not an overnight success. He started his stardom as someone behind the scenes, a member of a song-writing team called The Smeezingtons, which he founded with Philip Lawrence and Ari Levine. They composed loads of songs for different talents, including Travie McCoy’s “Billionaire,” Brandy’s “Long Distance,” and K’Naan’s “Wavin Flags,” one of the theme songs of the 2010 World Cup. Bruno even took part in singing some of these songs.

Having succeeded as a co-writer and feature-artist, this son of Pete and Bernadette Hernandez released his EP (Extended Play) titled It’s Better If You Don’t Understand on May 11, 2010. The EP reached the ninety-ninth position on the Billboard 200 in the same week.

It took Bruno about five months after he released his EP to launch his debut album, Doo-Wops & Hooligans, which was digitally released on October 4, 2010. The album’s physical version was issued a day later. The lead single, “Just The Way You Are” reached the top of Billboard Hot 100. Bruno mars is a multi-talented musician. He composes songs, sings them, and plays instruments. Music is really a part of his life.
